River
Forest Links
Known
as the "Village of churches and schools", River Forest was incorporated
in 1880. Situated along the Des Plaines River, the community contains
many architectural influences like its neighbor Oak Park. Proud
of the community and striving to preserve its heritage, the Village
motto is "to commemorate the past; to serve the present; to inspire
the future". Two main attractions in River Forest are its newly
developed Town Center at Harlem and Lake Streets, and the Trailside
Museum, dedicated to wildlife rehabilitation and natural history
since the 1930's.
